The 20-minute job, done in two

A seating plan is easy until the constraints arrive: those two can't sit together, she needs the front row, he works best next to his buddy. Shuffling names in a spreadsheet while holding all of that in your head is the 20-minute version. Here you set the rules once (they're shared with the group generator), pick a layout, and let Arrange do the constraint-juggling — then fine-tune by tapping two students to swap them. If a manual swap breaks a rule, the chart tells you immediately instead of letting it surface mid-lesson. When it looks right, print it for the wall — new term reshuffles are one click, and there's advice on cadence in when to change your seating plan.

Common questions

How does the seating chart maker work?

Paste your class list once, choose a room layout — pairs, exam rows, table groups, horseshoe, or click desks anywhere — and press Arrange. Students are placed randomly while your rules are respected. Tap two students to swap them, then print.

Can it keep certain students away from each other?

Yes — it uses the same keep-apart and keep-together rules as the group generator. Keep-apart students are never seated adjacent (side by side, or directly in front/behind), and if you swap seats by hand the chart warns you the moment a rule breaks.

Where do the student names go?

Nowhere. Class lists and seating charts live in your browser's storage on your device — no accounts, no server, works offline once loaded. Details on the privacy page.

Can I print it?

One click prints just the chart: room layout, big names, front of the room marked — ready for the classroom wall, a cover teacher, or the back of your planner.
