Cold-calling that's actually fair

Random questioning keeps a class on its toes — but plain randomness repeats itself: the same student gets picked three times while someone else coasts a whole lesson unnoticed. Fair mode fixes that. Every student picked joins the "already picked" list and won't come up again until the whole class has had a turn, at which point the round resets automatically. Mark who's absent, tap Pick, and let the spotlight land — on the projector if you like, with no wheel required. New to no-hands questioning? Start with cold-calling without the dread.

Common questions

What makes this name picker fair?

Every pick is uniformly random among the students present today. With fair mode on, picked students can't come up again until everyone has had a turn — so nobody gets picked three times while someone else is never called on.

What does the no-repeat (fair) mode do?

Picked students join a per-class "already picked" list and are skipped by later picks. When everyone present has been picked, the list resets automatically and a fresh round starts — you'll see a notice when that happens. You can also reset it manually.

Are absent students skipped?

Yes — tap a name to mark a student absent and they sit out of every pick. Absences are shared with the group generator, so you only mark them once.

Where do the student names go?

Nowhere. Class lists live in your browser's storage on your device and are never uploaded — no accounts, no server, and the picker keeps working offline once loaded. Details on the privacy page.

Do I need an account?

No — and you never will. Paste a class list once and it's saved in your browser on that device, ready for both tools.
